These images were made with version 8 of
Terragen. You can also download the files used for these images (whatever survived my
absentmindedness and a crash).
The page is likely to take some time to load; there are a lot of graphics.
Clicking on the image previews will take you to an 800 X 600 image. If you want some other size for wallpaper, check on my Terragen wallpapers pages.

| I have tried to be as realistic as possible,
even though I have never been to Mars:-)
The terrain was a Viking IMG originally. The surface map is very simple; I didn't use Terragen's preset for Mars (I think it has been the same since version 06), because I found it too dark. The atmosphere is modified from the Terragen preset, though. -------------------------- The terrain and world files are in the mars1.zip (43 kb). -------------------------- |
The planets and nebula are from the www NASA
archives. They have all been modified a lot with Corel Photopaint.
And yes, I know that no stars should be visible in the left shadow of the left planet, but when I was making it I had somehow got the idea that the planet was melon-shaped. The terrain originates from a Viking IMG file modified. -------------------------- The terrain and world files are in the 007.zip (405 kb). This is the only large terrain I will keep here (I must watch my space), since it is rather unusual. -------------------------- |
Frozen landscape. The terrain was made by Terragen. It was an attempt to use the 513 X 513 size. It wasn't very
good and it didn't compress well.
-------------------------- The world file is in the 003.zip (1.79 kb). With a smaller terrain, you may need to move the camera position inside the terrain. -------------------------- |

A red sunset.
-------------------------- The terrain and world files are in the 016d.zip (130 kb) -------------------------- |
A dark sunset.
-------------------------- The terrain and world files are in the 018.zip (128 kb) -------------------------- |
A dramatic sunset. There is a lighting artifact that you can see on the bottom of the right mountain, but I didn't edit it. It took a very long time to render (in my P MMX 200: over 14 hours
at 1024 X 768).
-------------------------- The terrain (Terragen, hand edited) and world files are in the 005.zip (124 kb). -------------------------- |

My best lake so far, I think.
-------------------------- A v.08.11 file. Sorry, I don't know what I have done with the files. -------------------------- |
A moody (and muddy) lake scene.
-------------------------- The world files are in the 012.zip (1.76 kb). The terrain file (made by Terragen) was too large and didn't compress well. -------------------------- |
An "against the light" river scene. The terrain was made from a DEM of some place in Washington state, USA (the only one I found with a river that was so level it could be used in Terragen). It looked "plastic" with my old v.07 surface maps. I also used the new SOpack water transparency plugin, though I can't say I see
any difference; probably because there is so little water.
I think this is my best surface so far. -------------------------- The terrain and world files are in the 004.zip (60.5 kb). -------------------------- |
